MentorMentors are selected for each mentee/participant based upon application information, mentorship priorities, career goals, and their reason for joining MCLP. Mentors meet with their assigned mentees approximately 1 hour per month via face to face. Mentors are often those who are also alums and have first-hand knowledge of MCLP.

Class FacilitatorRole consists of two individuals who commit to a 2-year term to provide implementation of each learning event. Facilitators guide participants into deeper level thinking and processing about topics. They solicit engagement from class participants, lead learning event sessions and ensure desired outcomes are achieved.

PresentersSubject matter experts who craft a learning experience for the class that is conducive to the scheduled topic. Presenters engage the class into deeper level discussions and knowledge on how servant leadership should shape views on the relevant topic.

PanelistsGroup of individuals who are often subject matter experts or practitioners in their respective fields. They provide in-depth information and engage class participation by responding to questions They humanize the leadership experience with personalized stories of their leadership journey, challenges and victories.

CurriculumVolunteers prepare and maintain the curriculum and programming for MCLI’s MCLP and Membership Program. Programming and curriculum will be handled separately for each program within MCLI. Curriculum volunteers design the course content for MCLP that provides a framework for participants to learn and practice becoming better servant leaders. InternGenerally college students who desire to receive on the job training as they pursue an identified area that aligns with their future employment goals. They are community focused and provide meaningful contributions to the organization in a myriad of areas.In Person /

Project Selection TeamThis team is made up of volunteers who desire to purposefully manage the Requests for Proposals (RFP) process to generate a list of prospective projects to choose from.  These individuals meet to review and thoroughly peruse the nonprofit requests to ensure that the requests can be managed and achieved within the specified time and the deliverable is the intended outcome.  The committee members ensure that projects not only fulfill articulated needs of a nonprofit community organization, but also enhances the MCLP participant leadership development experience, teamwork, communication, and project management skills.  Best for: MCLP Alumni and Community MembersIn Person /

Project AdvisorA designated volunteer who observes the assigned project team and provides feedback on team dynamics as well as challenges the team may face. The project advisor supports the thinking, forming, and actions of the team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Project Liaison and SponsorDesignated volunteers from within the selected community-project organization who provide access to resources and remove roadblocks. These individuals model and share the organization’s mission, vision, and values. The project Liaison works at a more granular level with the team which consists of more frequent contact.  The Sponsor participates at a higher level with the team, but with less frequent contact.

RecruitmentThis team is responsible for the recruitment and coordination of all participants for the MCLP. These volunteers work closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure that MCLP has a qualified pool of candidates who are secured for each recruitment season. This team develops plans for targeting new participants from untapped sources. They develop plans to retain MCLP confidence and an active pipeline from existing recruitment pool of sources. Interview Team MemberThe interview team consists of a lead interviewer, a second interviewer and a scribe who is responsible for taking notes during the entire interview. This team discusses each interviewee and makes a determination on whether the interviewee would be a good candidate for MCLP.

MCLI Board of DirectorsThis group of dedicated volunteers focus on advancing the vision and mission of MCLI. MCLP operations is primarily managed by volunteers who commit their time, energy and talents to the mission of this organization MCLI. Volunteers affirm and recognize stakeholders regularly.

Volunteer RecruitmentThis subcommittee shall be responsible for the recruitment and coordination of all volunteers for MCLI. This subcommittee shall work closely with the necessary MCLI and MCLP program contacts to ensure the appropriate amount and placement of volunteers are secured. The subcommittee will focus on securing volunteers with the appropriate skills and experience for the identified needs.

Volunteer EngagementThis committee intentionally manages the engagement of MCLI volunteers with excellence to prepare volunteers, and establish a culture of appreciation, commitment, and empowerment to help develop MCLI’s capacity to fulfill its mission.  The committee creates an environment for volunteers that fosters long-term engagement with MCLI by appropriately identifying how volunteers would like to engage, placing volunteers into the best roles, setting clear expectations, training, and onboarding volunteers, and supporting them throughout their service. The committee builds and manages the MCLI volunteer brand.

GraduationThis group of volunteers is responsible for planning and implementing a successful MCLP graduation dinner and celebration. These volunteers assist with the selection of the graduation speakers, MCLP award recipients and other program logistics.

Fundraising and Community DevelopmentVolunteers cultivate and secure financial and community support of MCLI’s Multicultural Leadership Program (MCLP) and Membership Program. They expand the MCLI brand and impact in the communities with significant alumni and member presence. The Fundraising team lead efforts to provide financial sustainability to advance the mission and vision. The Community Development team nurtures MCLI’s presence and support in communities and builds awareness of the mission and vision of MCLI including the realized and potential impacts of its graduates and members.

FinanceThis group of volunteers serves as an advising and support council for the Board Treasurer and for finance related activities and decisions. This includes: supporting the Board Treasurer with monitoring and advising on the management of expenses, generated income, and setting/monitoring the annual budget.
