The Multicultural Leadership Program is pleased to name Kari Sandhaas as the July 2018 recipient of the Alumni Service Award, in recognition of her years of service towards furthering the mission of MCLP.
“Whether you engage as a participant in the leadership program, or become a sponsor, mentor or volunteer, there are many different ways to become a part of MCLP. I am happy I did and am truly honored by this award,” said Sandhaas.
“Kari has been an exemplary servant leader in her time of service at the Multicultural Leadership Program,” shared Executive Director Linda Bollivar. “Her dedication to the program, coupled with her precision to detail, have resulted in her making a big impact on the organization.”
Sandhaas began impacting the organization soon after graduating from MCLP in 2012. Putting her leadership qualities from the program into practice, she joined the MCLP board as a chair of the marketing and technology committee for three years, during which she took the lead on several strategic planning initiatives.
“I have always been strongly engaged in my community and work,” Sandhaas explained, “but MCLP offers a unique opportunity to increase your impact exponentially! MCLP combined my organizational leadership skills and training background with my passion for diversity, inclusion and local community impact.”
Sandhaas’ passion led her to become board vice president in 2015, followed by board president from 2016 to 2017. Throughout her time on the board, she dedicated countless hours to MCLP’s mission and vision project, and she also developed new curriculum for servant leadership.
“I especially enjoyed my tenure on the MCLP/MCLI board,” Sandhaas remarked. “I am proud of helping MCLI to restructure and mature as a nonprofit, to refine its values and strategic pillars, and help the organization become more sustainable. We have so many outstanding leaders in the community and our workplaces thanks to MCLP and its supporters!”
The public is invited to the award presentation on Thursday, July 26, 2018, 4:00 – 5:00 pm at the MCLP Class of 2019 orientation reception to be held at Heartland Community College Astroth Community Education Center.
