Grads make a difference in the community

A mere three weeks following graduation, 2012 Multicultural Leadership Program graduates, along with graduates from past MCLP classes, were hard at work Saturday, April 21 throughout the community.

1. Craig Luchtefeld (Class of 2012) with family and friends worked from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. collecting and selling at the 3rd annual Autism Society Garage Sale Fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale help autistic children attend summer camp.

2. Macaria Lopez (Class of 2010) gathered family, friends and many MCLP alumni to help the Boys and Girls Club on cleanup duty.

3. In the afternoon, some of the same alumni and more were playing or wheelchair basketball against the University of Illinois Wheelchair Basketball Team at Kingsley Junior High in Normal. Other MCLP alumni were in the stands cheering on their team. While the MCLP team technically lost the game, everyone won because all the money raised benefitted LIFE Center for Independent Living.
