The Multicultural Leadership Program Board of Directors is proud to announce the appointment of Sonya Mau as MCLP Executive Director. The executive director plays an integral role in the program’s current and future growth. Mau’s directive is to guide MCLP through the next stage of growth, establishing a strategy for MCLP’s future which inspires greater achievement by the graduates, resulting in greater value to the community.
“My challenge will be to support this team of amazingly dedicated volunteers – on our boards, on our committees, as sponsors and as speakers and instructors. They make it happen for each class, every day, every year. I simply hope to be a catalyst and to channel that passion and creative energy into a fully sustainable future for MCLP and for our community.”
MCLP’s mission is to develop diverse leaders inMcLeanCounty. In less than three years the organization has seen its graduates become active in the decision-making work of many boards in the community.
Before being selected as Executive Director, Mau served as President Elect of the MCLP Board of Directors. She also chaired the MCLP curriculum committee. As part of the program, each class of 25 participants partners with community organizations in delivering projects of value to the community.
“As I look back on how quickly MCLP has evolved from a concept to a full-blown quality servant-leadership program, I am in awe of how this happened with an all-volunteer organization. I can only echo what Deanna Frautschi, former Chairperson of the MCLP Advisory Council, said about MCLP, “It’s an idea whose time has come.”
Rob Fazzini, incoming Chairperson of the MCLP Advisory Council, looks forward to the Advisory Council continuing to contribute to improving this exciting leadership program with Mau and the MCLP Board of Directors, as they craft a successful future for MCLP.
