MCLP Participants Share Update on Progress of Community Projects

The public is invited to attend midterm presentations by the Multicultural Leadership Program (MCLP) Class of 2016 regarding the five community service projects the class currently has underway. MCLP project teams will present midterm highlights of their projects on Saturday, December 5 from 8:15 to 10:30 am at the Community Cancer Center located at 407 E. Vernon in Normal.

Familiar Names and Unfamiliar Faces

On the evening of the Orientation Reception in late July, participants walked through the giant glass doors of Heartland Community College’s Astroth Community Education Center in a mixture of nervousness and excitement. Each time a participant walked up to the table to pick up their nametag, I got to briefly match a new face to one of the many names I had been working with.
