MCLP Project Presentations December 2018

261 Fearless Team Members present their progress to date. Left to right: Sharon Ware, Kathy Sawyer, and Marianela Diaz.

On December 13, Illinois Wesleyan’s Center for Natural Science was the place to find the Multicultural Leadership Program Class of 2019 and their supporters, as the teams presented their midterm progress reports to the public.

Each team had 10 minutes to share their progress-to-date, then 5 minutes to answer questions.  The emcee for the evening was MCLP Class of 2018 alumna Beth Marsh of COUNTRY Financial. First up was the team working with the Vladimir Canterbury Sister Cities Association. They kicked the evening off by sharing their progress on a fundraising and marketing plan to increase funding for future cultural, educational, and medical exchanges with cities in Russia and England.   Next up was the Salvation Army project team, working to develop a video-based training to streamline the process of on boarding volunteers for the organization’s food pantry. After that, the group supporting the Home Sweet Home Ministries Mission Mart shared their research into creating a sustainable structure for an online auction to maximize the profits on unique or valuable items donated to the shelter.  Finally, the team working with 261 Fearless shared how this local affiliate is part of an international group empowering women, and their efforts to attract and retain members to this unique running organization.
